This is a dedicated information hub for Batchewana First Nation members containing details of the Robinson Huron Treaty settlement.
In 2010, Batchewana First Nation and 20 other Lake Huron First Nations, formed the Robinson Huron Treaty Litigation Fund (RHTLF) to pursue litigation or negotiations against Canada and Ontario for failing to increase annuities payments since 1874.
On June 17, 2023, the RHTLF leadership and representatives of the governments of Canada and Ontario announced an out-of-court settlement of $10 billion for past losses. Batchewana First Nation beneficiaries will receive a portion of this settlement amount.
Your input matters, and we are committed to learning how we can build a better and stronger community with the funds we receive from this settlement.
